The Gatekeepers concluded their trip by meeting with Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), the President of Indonesia, to talk about pressing issues his country faces, and they were the first journalists to receive official word that the President has signed a long-awaited moratorium on logging. He said, "It is challenging, of course, because I have to convince my own people that it's not only simply a moral obligation to join the international community in preserving the environment. We need to ensure as well that we have a better environment for our future generations. I believe very strongly that we could address those two things simultaneously: our economic interest and our obligation to preserve our forests." Video by Jacob Templin.
