Allison Shelley is an independent documentary photographer and multimedia journalist. She is co-director of the Women Photojournalists of Washington (WPOW) and recent adjunct faculty at the graduate programs of Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism and the Corcoran College of Art and Design. Previously, Allison worked as director of photography for Education Week newspaper and as a staff photographer for The Washington Times. She now focuses her work internationally, pursuing long-form documentary projects on the intersection of global health and justice. Her photography has been featured in publications such as The New Yorker, Time, National Geographic News, The New York Times, NPR, Al Jazeera, and The Guardian, among others.
Shelley was awarded a prior fellowship with IRP, reporting from Cuba in 2015.
