Refugee Javier Gonzalez looks out over the laudry that hangs in the atrium of the Red Cross office building in downtown Bogota, Colombia, where he is one of the leaders of a group of more than 300 refugees who have occupied the building as a live-in protest since December, 1999.

 

Nicholas Mims, 25, of Clearwater, is serving his second year of a five-year sentence in the Edgefield Federal Correctional Institution, for conspiracy to distribute illegal drugs.

22 year-old Augusta, GA addict
This 22-year-old Augusta woman, who asked to remain anonymous, has battled her addiction to cocaine, Ecstasy and other drugs. After three arrests, she has returned to live with her parents, who say her addiction has left them $100,000 in debt.
