Kathryn Schulz
Kathryn Schulz is a Brooklyn-based freelance writer. Prior to her IRP Fellowship, she was managing editor of the online environmental magazine Grist. Before that, she was a reporter and editor for The Santiago Times, Chile's English-language newspaper, where she covered environmental, labor, and human rights issues. She has also worked as the assistant director of a school in Costa Rica and at an educational nonprofit organization in Portland, Oregon. Her freelance work, on topics ranging from global climate change to Augusto Pinochet, has appeared in publications from Rolling Stone to The New York Times Magazine. She graduated from Brown University in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in history and is currently at work on a book.
