Douglas McGray
Douglas McGray is a freelance writer based in Washington D.C. who covers a wide range of topics, from politics and popular culture to technology and the arts. His work appears in such outlets as The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic Monthly, Metropolis, The Economist, and Foreign Policy, where he is a contributing writer. Previously a features editor at Foreign Policy, he was one of the original architects of its transformation from quarterly journal to bimonthly magazine. He contributed an essay to an issue of Daedalus, the journal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, showcasing "the next generation" of writers and intellectuals, and spent the spring of 2001 reporting from Tokyo as a Media Fellow of the Japan Society. He was born in Maine and studied history and literature at Brown University.
