Tiare Rath

At the time of her fellowship in 2002, Tiare Rath was a Beirut-based regional features writer with The Daily Star, which publishes in the Arab world with the International Herald Tribune. She reported on issues affecting women and Arabs in the West, as well as on arts and culture in Lebanon. She has since left The Daily Star. Before moving to Beirut in 1999, Rath covered computer companies and personal finance for CBS "MarketWatch" in San Francisco, where she launched and managed the personal finance section. She investigated the influence of pharmaceutical marketing on doctors for ABC News "PrimeTime Live" in New York and wrote on Internet culture and legal affairs for CNET News.com in San Francisco. Rath was also a personal finance columnist for "Chickclick," an online network for young women. She received a bachelor's degree in Journalism from San Francisco State University.
