Richard Byrne

Richard Byrne is a senior editor at The Riverfront Times in St. Louis, where he writes a weekly column on local and national media. He has also written extensively about the arts and national politics and covered the 1996 major political conventions for the weekly. He is an editor for the Belgrade-based literary magazine Alexandria and a contributing writer for the New York Press . He is a graduate of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and Washington University in St. Louis. He lived in the Czech Republic in 1991 and 1992, teaching English to petrochemical workers near Prague. He started his journalism career as a music and book reviewer for the Baltimore City Paper in 1986 and later returned to that paper as a staff writer in 1993.
