RSVP Now: IRP Fellows Report on Global Health Successes and Failures

Five IRP Fellows reported on global health for five weeks, covering maternal and child health, noncommunicable diseases, rural and emerging health systems and migrant care.

Join five IRP journalists as they share the results of their five-week global health reporting projects at a lunch discussion. The IRP Fellows are returning from India, Morocco, Myanmar & Thailand, Papua New Guinea and South Sudan, and they will present short reports and answer questions on maternal and child health, noncommunicable diseases, rural and emerging health systems, migrant care, and other issues. Join them to discuss what is and isn't working in international health systems.

Speakers

Juhie Bhatia monitored Morocco's maternal health successes--and its ongoing weaknesses with women's rights.

Andrew Green surveyed South Sudan's emerging health care system, focusing on the positive with a midwife training program and the near-eradication of polio and the guinea worm.

Cathy Shufro talked to migrant workers in Myanmar & Thailand about how they receive treatment that accommodates their transient lifestyles.

Carey Wagner trekked into the mountains of Papua New Guinea to explore maternal and child health challenges, as well as the prevalence of sexual violence, in the country's rural areas.

Christopher Werth investigated chronic and noncommunicable diseases in India, including heart disease and diabetes.
