Janet Reitman is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone, where she has covered Iraq since April 2004. In 2000, she made two trips to Sierra Leone: using her fellowship to profile Foday Sankoh, then the rebel leader of Sierra Leone's Revolutionary United Front for Talk, returning in the late summer of 2000 to write about female child soldiers for Marie Claire. Reitman has been a freelance magazine writer since 1994, contributing to GQ, The Los Angeles Times Magazine, Details, The New Yorker, ESPN-The Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The New York Daily News, among others. She is a graduate of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and has a B.A. degree in comparative literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
