Halting an Epidemic: Polio in Nigeria
Betsy Pisik traveled to Kano, Nigeria, to report on polio as a 2010 IRP Fellow. She was accompanied by Mary F. Calvert, whose photos are displayed throughout the video and on her website.
In this video, Pisik discusses Nigeria's rejection of the polio vaccine and the impact it had on both Nigerian children and neighboring countries. She also discusses the role of organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) in monitoring and preventing polio cases.
