Elizabeth Shelburne is a freelance writer based in Boston. She worked as a staff editor at The Atlantic Monthly from 2001 through 2005. She has written for The Atlantic Monthly, The Atlantic Unbound, The New Republic Online and The Boston Globe on topics including refugees and immigration, business and rock climbing. She has lived in Ireland and Kenya and traveled throughout East Africa and Europe. A native of Tennessee, she graduated with a degree in English from Amherst College.
