Alex Kuffner is a staff writer for The Providence Journal in Rhode Island. He joined The Journal in 2000 after graduating with a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. Previously he wrote about China for the Economist Intelligence Unit in Hong Kong. A native of Sydney, Australia, he has a bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies from Columbia University.
