Anna Maria Barry-Jester is editor and manager of SaveOne.net, the website of ABC News’ yearlong global health initiative, Be the Change: Save a Life. She also assigns and writes content for ABCNews.com and guides broadcast coverage related to the global health series. Prior to joining ABC, she worked as a freelance multimedia journalist, working for print and web-based media around the world, with a focus on the social determinants of health. During 2009-2010 she was based in India covering stores there and in Pakistan. She is an editor of Burn Magazine, an award-winning online photography magazine that produces yearly printed publications and special exhibits. For five years she wrote for Connections Magazine, documenting human rights issues throughout the Americas. She has lived in India, Nicaragua, Argentina and Cuba for extended periods and has traveled extensively through Latin America. A native of Michigan, she holds a B.A. in Latin American Studies from New York University and a MPH in Epidemiology and Global Health from Columbia University. Her photography awards include selection in the 2010 PDN Photo Annual, 2009 BD Global Health Photography Grant and being a finalist in the 2010 Photocrati Fund. She also reported on health and development in Peru on a 2015 IRP fellowship.
