Ruthie Ackerman is a New York-based journalist focusing on women and politics. She has special expertise on citizen media, refugee issues, and post-conflict environments, and is a senior fellow at the World Policy Institute. She is the founder of Ceasefire Liberia, a blog project for Liberian youth with the mission of promoting citizen journalism and creating a dialogue between Liberians around the world. She was the recipient of a Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting fellowship in 2007 for which she wrote a series of stories and produced and directed a short documentary on the rehabilitation of Liberian youth that premiered on “Foreign Exchange.” Her work has been featured in Salon, The Daily Beast, The Huffington Post, The Nation, The New York Times, World Policy Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Forbes, Fast Company, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Hartford Courant, Women's Media Center, and many more publications.
