Steve Kiehl is a features writer at the Baltimore Sun, where he has covered Hurricane Katrina, the DC-area sniper shootings and issues of immigration and violence along the Arizona-Mexico border. Since joining the paper in 2001, he has also covered the education and transportation beats. He previously worked at the Palm Beach Post, reporting on higher education and the disputed 2000 presidential election. He was part of The Sun team that was a finalist for the 2003 Pulitzer Prize in breaking news. He grew up in Maryland and received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
