William Dermody, Jr. is the world news editor at USA Today, the largest circulation daily newspaper in the United States. He directs coverage of all world news, including war coverage, cultural issues and environmental news, working with reporters in several bureaus, including Beijing and Hong Kong. He supervises all war coverage in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. Dermody also works with the newspaper’s online division to maintain presence on the Web. Previously, he was the newspaper’s deputy night editor. Before joining USA Today, he worked for The Associated Press, as the national desk editor in New York, and previously as a reporter in AP bureaus in Boston and Providence, Rhode Island. He began his journalism career as a reporter with Suburban Newspapers outside of Boston. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Salem State College in Massachusetts.
