Rob Verger is an associate editor and the foreign coordinator at Newsweek. He frequently writes for Newsweek.com on topics related to science and health, and recent stories have focused on new research regarding Gulf War Illness, autism, malaria, and more. He is especially drawn to topics with an international or multicultural component, he wrote about the Sherpa tragedy on Mt. Everest in 2014. At Newsweek, he also works as liaison to the publication’s foreign partners, working closely with magazines like Newsweek Japan and Newsweek Pakistan. He received an MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia University, where he also taught undergraduate composition for two years. His work has also appeared in The Daily Beast, The Boston Globe, and other publications.
Verger was awarded a prior fellowship with IRP, reporting from Kazakhstan in 2013.
