Steven Scher is a senior host and executive producer at KUOW-FM radio, an affiliate of National Public Radio in Seattle. He is one of the creators and the host of the daily two-hour live segment “Weekday,” which debates and discusses a wide variety of issues, ranging from local and regional to national and international. He has also freelanced for Crosscut.com and for NPR. Scher is also an instructor at the University of Washington, teaching an upper-level course on the practices of interviewing in journalism, and started a six-week long summer program in reporting and production basics for high school students. He has received multiple international fellowships that have taken him to Germany, Austria, China, Japan, and several other countries. Scher received his Bachelors Degree in journalism from the University of Oregon, and his Masters of Education, Communication, and Technology from the University of Washington.
