Ali Rae is a digital producer with Al Jazeera English’s London programs department, working primarily across two flagship television shows –The Listening Post and Head to Head – and occasional special series. Her role ranges from curating and maintaining multiple social media accounts, to filming, editing and producing material for online audiences, to supporting the enhancement of digital strategy and online engagement for the network. A strong interest in intercultural communication and grassroots storytelling has led her to undertake a number of multimedia development projects in diverse locations such as Palestine, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Ghana and the Balkans. With a background in teaching and digital production, Ali has also completed dual degrees in journalism and arts (peace and conflict studies), together with a master's degree in communication for social change from the University of Queensland, Australia. Her work has received awards, including the DART Center for Journalism and Trauma Prize for reporting on violence, disaster or trauma in society. In 2013 she was awarded a Rotary Global Grant Scholarship that enabled her to move to the United Kingdom and complete a second postgraduate degree, a master of science in social anthropology and development management from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
