Rachel Konrad is senior communications manager at Tesla Motors. Previously, she was a senior writer for CNET News.com. After joining CNET in 2000, she wrote hundreds of stories about technology and the Internet, from the implosion of the dot-com stock bubble and executive burnout to mega-mergers and the foreign worker visa program. Previously she spent nearly five years working in her hometown at the Detroit Free Press, primarily covering the global auto industry. That beat took her to assembly plants from Sweden to Thailand and she has test-driven cars such as the Fiat Punto, Porsche Boxster and an early prototype of an electric Honda Civic. Konrad covered small business and real estate for The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Washington, and wrote about crime and festivals at the Milwaukee Journal. She graduated from Northwestern University.
