Laura Dean is a journalist reporting from the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The London Review of Books, The Associated Press, The New Republic, Slate.com, Foreign Policy, The Globe and Mail, the Village Voice and Roads and Kingdoms. Previously, she was the Senior Middle East Correspondent for GlobalPost based in Cairo. In 2017 she was an International Reporting Project fellow reporting on women and migration in West Africa. In 2016 she received a grant from Lawfare to write a series on refugees, security and Syria. Dean grew up in Bahrain and speaks English, French and Arabic.
