Sumana Chatterjee is a reporter for Congressional Quarterly's Daily Monitor in Washington, D.C., where she covers the Senate. She joined Congressional Quarterly in 1998 and has covered foreign affairs and defense, environment and energy and campaign finance. Previously, she worked at C-Span, producing and writing programs from 1996 to 1998. Earlier, she worked as a freelance field producer and assignment editor for CNN in New York and previously was a news producer apprentice in the Washington bureau of ABC News. She also spent time with the Washington Post as a research assistant and metro freelance reporter in 1994. She has done independent reporting on the Kurds for USA Today and traveled to Myanmar (Burma) in 1996 for stories for the Washington Post. She received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago and studied International Relations at the London School of Economics.
