Marc Charney is a staff editor for the Sunday Review at The New York Times, working primarily with outside writers for the section, previously known as the Week In Review. For 27 years he has worked closely with many of the newspaper's most seasoned correspondents, first on the foreign desk and then in the Review section focusing on international affairs. Prior to working at The Times he was a national and foreign correspondent for the Associated Press for 15 years, covering the Caribbean, including stories in Haiti, Grenada, Cuba, Jamaica,  El Salvador and elsewhere. Later, Charney covered the aftermath of Israel’s Lebanon war as an AP correspondent and, as a Times editor, wrote occasional articles and set in motion numerous special projects on the Middle East conflict. Before joining The Times he worked at the Providence Journal as a reporter. He holds a B.A. from Williams College.
