Ariana Eunjung Cha is a Beijing-based correspondent for The Washington Post. She was The Post's San Francisco bureau chief in 2005 and covered Iraq from 2003 to 2004. Previously, she covered technology at The Post. Prior to joining The Post in 1999, she covered biotechnology and race and demographics for the San Jose Mercury News and worked on special projects for the Detroit Free Press. She was part of a team of reporters that wrote a six-part series on Michigan's Dr. Jack Kevorkian, from which a book, "The Suicide Machine," was later published. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University.
