Leda Balbino is the foreign desk deputy editor at Folha de S. Paulo, one of the leading newspapers in Brazil, where she elaborates the daily assignments of the desk and coordinates the news website. Before Folha, she worked at iG news website and at the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo. During her nine years reporting international news, she covered Pope Benedict XVI’s pilgrimage to Jordan in 2009; the economic reforms in Cuba and the immigration effects in Arizona in 2010; the Democratic National Convention and the U.S. elections in 2012; and the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly in 2013. In 2012, she was one of the 10 international fellows of the World Press Institute and, in 2013, one of the four participants of the Dag Hammarskjold Journalism Fellowship at the UN.
