Kate Linthicum is a reporter at the Los Angeles Times. She has reported from Africa, South America and across the United States. Most recently she covered Los Angeles City Hall and the 2013 mayor's race. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Politico and People Magazine. She led coverage of the dismantling of the Occupy Los Angeles protest that won an Online News Association award in 2012. An investigatory series on problems at the Los Angeles Fire Department that she co-wrote won the award for Best Coverage of Local Government from the California Newspaper Publishers Association this year. She grew up in New Mexico and graduated from Barnard College.
