Sharon Weinberger is a freelance national security reporter focusing on science and technology issues. She is a regular contributor to Wired’s national security blog, Danger Room, and her writing has also appeared in the Washington Post Magazine, Slate, Nature, Discover, Financial Times, and Aviation Week & Space Technology.
She is the author of Imaginary Weapons: A Journey Through the Pentagon’s Scientific Underworld (Nation Books, 2006) and co-author of A Nuclear Family Vacation: Travels in the World of Atomic Weaponry (Bloomsbury, 2008). In 2008/9, she was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT and a Carnegie Newhouse Legal Reporting Fellow.
She received her B.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1992, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She holds an M.A. in International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and an M.A. in Russian and East European Studies from Yale University
