Eva Sanchis is the metro editor for El Diario-La Prensa. Earlier, she was the paper’s City Hall bureau reporter and covered the 2005 mayoral election in New York City and the Democratic and Republican national conventions. She has also covered immigration for El Diario, the nation oldest Spanish-language daily newspaper. In 2004, she wrote an award-winning series on human rights abuses in New Jersey county jails that prompted a change in federal detention standards. She has been an adjunct professor at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University. Before coming to El Diario in 2002, she worked for three years for Spanish newspapers covering politics and social issues. She was an intern for CNN’s “American Morning” with Paula Zahn and “Greenfield at Large.” She graduated from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1995 with a B.A. in Journalism. She also has a M.A. in Journalism and Latin American & Caribbean Studies from New York University.
